We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person to join our boatyard team at Cowes Yacht Haven (CYH). This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual, with a flexible work ethic, to join a fast-paced team in a purpose-built boatyard and marina. Cowes Yacht Haven has a busy and vibrant boatyard, with activity all year round. We have a large established Dry Sail fleet and we are also a popular destination for regatta preparation and storage.
Candidates must be able demonstrate.

- The ability to use their initiative whilst working with all CYH’s Health and Safety policies ensuring all aspects of work are carried out safely and to a high standard
- Being able undertake various challenging manual handling activities both ashore and on the water in a safe and effective manner.
- An understanding of boating, with some understanding of types of boat, which includes construction materials and methods of build
- Experience of general maintenance
- Physical fitness and ability to undertake outdoor and physical work
- Be water confident
The role includes working outdoors in all weathers and will include some weekends.
Previous experience of plant operation and boat handling would be a major advantage but all training, where required, will be given.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Set up and use of boat moving and lifting equipment and ancillaries including, use of 50T WISE hoist, 32T mobile crane and forklift truck
- Collection and return of boats within the marina
- Lift and launch of vessels
- Pressure washing / removal of weed from hulls
- General care / maintenance of machinery
- Assisting in the shoring up of vessels ashore
- General maintenance may be required around site
- Keeping the yard tidy
- Undertake additional personal development and training
- Work within other departments when required
